Mejores prácticas legislativas internacionales en materia de custodia de animales silvestres traficados vivos

La elaboración de mejores prácticas legislativas, cualquiera que sea el ámbito temático, es en todos los casos un proceso extenso que se mide generalmente en años o décadas y en el que contribuyen múltiples y variadas fuentes. En el ámbito de la confiscación de animales silvestres víctimas del tráfico, esta publicación pretende realizar un aporte inicial y sentar las bases a ese proceso de construcción de mejores prácticas legislativas, dado que se trata de un área todavía con un desarrollo legal incipiente a nivel global, y prácticamente nulo en no pocas jurisdicciones. La propuesta se lanza a la comunidad de practica después de un año de trabajo realizado a partir de un extenso análisis bibliográfico sobre el tema y de una revisión legislativa en países pioneros en la materia, incluyendo Australia, Canadá, China, Estados Unidos, Filipinas, Francia, India, Noruega y la Unión Europea. El trabajo propone un total de 26 mejores prácticas para la regulación de confiscaciones, las cuales se espera ir expandiendo en el futuro. Las mejores prácticas se organizan temáticamente para cubrir aspectos de gobernanza, el cuidado animal, transporte, disposición, investigación y enjuiciamiento criminal.
