NEW PUBLICATION - DALPS Monographic issue (2025)

2025-12-17

We are delighted to announce the publication of our monographic volume for 2025. This pioneering work that challenges the long-standing silence of Roman law scholars on the subject of animals.

This publication offers a new perspective on animals by taking an interdisciplinary approach that draws on philosophy, linguistics, history, literature, epigraphy and sociology. This approach helps us to understand the significant role that animals played in Roman culture and, consequently, in Roman law.

A variety of topics are explored in sixteen articles by international experts, ranging from the legal conceptualisation of animals to their presence in daily life, entertainment, religion, the economy, and Roman criminal law.

This is an essential contribution. It helps to establishing the foundations and importance of Animal law today.
