Chronicle of the fourth animal law researchers' clinic

Abstract

The fourth edition of the Animal Law Researchers’ Clinic, organised by the dARC (Derecho Animal Research Center) research group and the DALPS (Derecho Animal – Animal Legal and Policy Studies) legal journal, took place between November 2024 and May 2025. Twenty-two academics from Latin America and Europe participated in this edition, including speakers and moderators, and over two hundred people registered to attend and discuss the proposed topics. Presentations addressed significant legal and social issues, such as grief management after the loss of a companion animal, the current state of bullfighting in Latin America, working conditions for dogs in Colombia and Spain, challenges in governing new types of meat, the problematic situation of greyhounds in Spain and Chile, treatment of animals in condominium regimes in Uruguay and Spain, and reforming the legal status of animals in the Brazilian Civil Code.
