Animal criminology: the urgency in a civilization process

This article proposes to approach a new criminological perspective, which, while delimiting the subject, can be considered an expansion of the scope and possibilities of Green Criminology: Animal Criminology. The methodology consists of an exploratory research, which seeks to unveil a concept that is still incipient, however absolutely necessary in a society that no longer passively tolerates crimes against animals. As a result, traditional criminology gives little importance to animal abuse, in a clearly anthropocentric view, which justifies the need for an animal criminology. It is concluded that, for this to occur, there must be a recognition that the human being is not the center of the universe; rather, it is part of a complex ecosystem, shared with other beings on the planet, who deserve respect and consideration.
