Work or exploitation? Reflections on the labor of dogs, consent, and their legal status

This article analyses the work of dogs from a legal perspective, exploring whether they can be considered subjects of a labour relationship and whether their consent is legally relevant. It also examines the similarities between labour law and the norms that regulate the use of "working dogs" in the Colombian legal system, especially those used in security functions, identifying elements of labour law that seem to apply to these animals, as well as normative gaps and contradictions in this regulation. The research challenges the traditional conceptualisation of labour and raises the need for a legal framework that recognises and protects these animals, without reducing them to mere instruments of labour.
